(INTRO)
Florida drivers will start saving hundreds of dollars on their auto insurance bills, unless lawmakers stand in the way. Proposals to revive Florida's costly no-fault auto insurance system will soon be debated in Tallahassee, possibly extending the system that has given Floridians the sixth highest auto insurance rates in the nation.
Ron Brown, co-chairman, of Floridians for Lower Insurance Costs, says the no-fault provision doesn't benefit consumers.
(BROWN)
FLORIDA'S MANDATORY NO-FAULT PROVISION FORCES CONSUMERS TO PAY FOR COVERAGE THEY MAY NOT NEED OR WANT, AND ENCOURAGES FRAUD AND ABUSE DRIVING UP RATES. THE PEOPLE PROFITING FROM THIS SYSTEM ARE TRYING TO BLOCK BILLIONS IN CONSUMER SAVINGS BY SOUNDING FALSE ALARMS ABOUT THE ECONOMIC IMPACTS OF THE NO-FAULT PROVISION GOING AWAY. INDEPENDENT STUDIES SHOWS THOSE CONCERNS ARE UNFOUNDED. THE SAVINGS TO CONSUMERS MORE THAN OFFSET THE MINIMAL IMPACTS ON HEALTH CARE PROVIDERS OR HOSPITALS.
(CLOSE)
Floridians for Lower Insurance Costs is a coalition of more than 5,000 consumers, businesses, and trade associations throughout Florida.
